Chapter Ten
In Chapter Ten, Graff makes Ender the commander of the Dragon army. Graff had said that he hoped Ender enjoys being happy for now, because that is about to change. When Ender got his position, it came with untrained Launches and several veterans. They are all younger than Ender and he is not allowed to trade any of this members. Enders meets them and then proceeds to get them into gear so that they can go practice in the Battle Room. Bean asks to be toon leader, but Ender wants Bean to prove himself. Later, Anderson starts to bend the rules purposely so that Ender would not be able to keep up; this tests Ender on what he can achieve. When he sees Alai in the game room, he then realizes how much things had changed. Ender holds a grudge against the teachers for using Valentine as a weapon against him.
Chapter Eleven
In Chapter Eleven, Graff and Anderson makes it even harder for Ender. They purposely give him less time to prepare his army and then make him battle against one army per day. In the lunchroom, where the scores are located, everyone is envious that a younger kid had surpassed them. In the days that Ender’s army had went to battle, he won every single one. Now, the Dragon army was known as the unbeatable and undefeatable. Later when he had to go against Bonzo, he won the battle even though the odds were stacked against him. This caused Bonzo’s hatred for Ender to grow, because he did not go through with the ceremonial surrender. After this battle, Ender calls Bean to his room and told him that he would make Bean a toon leader if he comes up with new ideas, risky tactics that no one would rationally engage in.
Chapter Twelve
In Chapter Twelve, it began with an argument between Colonel Graff and General Pace. Someone had filed a report that said that there was someone at the battle school who was conspiring against Ender in an attempt to kill him. Graff told the General that he would do nothing about it, because he wants Ender to believe and feel that he is and always will be constantly alone. Graff refuses to change his belief and thinking and Pace is enraged because if Graff’s plan does not work then Ender will die. Meanwhile, Ender is in the battle room training his army when Petra shows up and told him she wanted to talk to him. Petra and Dink warned Ender not to go anywhere alone because Bonzo and some other boys were planning to kill him. He does not take caution, because he believed that the teachers will save him if anything goes wrong. Later when he was in the shower, Bonzo and a group of boys appeared. Dink tries to come to the rescue but is restrained. In an attempt to save himself, Ender beat and killed Bonzo.
